We believe in a collaborative methodology! Do you?

Within Universities of the Future, players of the quadruple helix are developers, co-creators and also final beneficiaries. Together with partners, these players will co-create a multitude of ground-breaking resources for higher education communities (including students and alumni), business and public bodies. Our collaborative methodology is built by five main steps:

Step 1: Laying the foundations

Step 2: Engaging key players and co-creating a sound collaborative strategy

Step 3: Co-developing, testing and validating an array of innovative, up-to-date and attractive educational resources

Step 4: Creating and deploying a set of innovative and valuable resources and guiding tools addressed to key players

Step 5: Building and animating a virtual teaching and learning factory for Industry 4.0.

The whole project is based on this approach and its implementation will keep this focus. All resources and activities developed will be created with inputs from the quadruple helix along the project. Join us to be part of this community!

Knowledge Alliance Meeting invites all project’s coordinators to meet in Brussels

 

Last 31st January and 1st February a Knowledge Alliance Meeting, organized by the Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA,) took place in Brussels (Belgium), gathering 22 different coordinators to present their projects, chosen on the 2017 Call. Rui Coutinho attended the cluster meeting, representing the UoF leading organisation (P.Porto/Porto Design Factory).

The meeting aimed to present each project objectives and expected results, so that possible synergies between projects could be identified, resulting in future collaborations and a more positive and close Knowledge Alliance Community by enhancing the networking practices. In addition, representatives from EACEA also shared relevant information on administrative and financial issues regarding the project management.

A new Knowledge Alliance will underpin Universities of the Future


Universities of the Future was selected among a few Knowledge Alliances supported by the Erasmus+ of the European Commission. This one-million project, coordinated by the Porto Design Factory (P. Porto) is a
true community of practice that will address the existing gap at higher education offer to respond to the challenges of the digital transformation (Industry 4.0) by developing new, innovative and multidisciplinary approaches to teaching and learning, stimulating entrepreneurship and entrepreneurial skills of higher education teaching staff and company staff and facilitate the exchange, flow and co-creation of knowledge.
The project chart of commitments includes the co-development (together with key players of the quadruple helix) of:
– A common body of knowledge on industry 4.0 readiness/maturation of regions/business and related impact on skills shifting, up/re-skilling (a blueprint for cooperation with and for HEIs, businesses and governments)
– Innovative lessons on core topics/main components of the Industry 4.0, targeting students enrolled in HE bachelors/master degrees
– Continuous training programmes/short-courses on core topics/main components of the Industry 4.0, targeting employees that are interested in re/upskilling their competences
– A joint post-graduation course built-on creative strategies applied to industry 4.0, targeting workers interested in putting into practice pilot projects to accelerate their company’s digital transformation
– Guiding and supporting resources targeted to HEIs, business and government decision-making bodies and to educators/trainers
– A robust virtual teaching and learning factory for industry 4.0 populated with tools and resources enabling direct contact of the target-groups with the main components of industry and education 4.0, and complemented by physical facilities/equipment, aimed at supporting the development of the hands-on-experiment and pilot projects.
